This past weekend, the MCHS Band and their Director, Connor Shadday, were presented with the SCBDA’s Outstanding Performance Award (OPA).
The OPA is the Highest Award given to Band programs in the State of South Carolina for their outstanding performances at State Marching Band Championships, Concert Performance Assessment (CPA), Jazz Performance Assessment (JPA), Region Honor Band, All-State Honor Band, and Solo and Ensemble Festival. Students participating in each event earn points for their program, with a Band program needing 90/100 points to qualify. We are happy to report that the MCHS Band earned 100/100 points to qualify for the OPA! Congratulations to all students involved in the program! The OPA will remain in the front office for all to see for the rest of the school year, after which it will be moved to the Band’s trophy case!
Congratulations
